STLA (pronounced Stella) is a new range of shared EV platforms from Stellantis, comprising four available configurations and multiple powertrain combinations. The upcoming 2024 Dodge Charger EV will be built on the “STLA Large” unibody platform dedicated to high-performance all-wheel-drive cars and muscle cars. “STLA Large” is slotted above the "Small" and "Medium" platforms and below the “STLA Frame” intended for building SUVs, trucks, and commercial vehicles.

“STLA Large” can incorporate battery packs of sizes ranging from 101 to 118 kWh and is capable of offering a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge. To put that into perspective the Lucid Air sporting a 112 kWh battery pack currently holds the record for the longest EPA-rated EV range of 516 miles. The 2024 Dodge Charger EV underpinned by the STLA Large platform will be in that high-level ballpark which portends a bright future for electrified Dodge muscle cars.

Highlight Features Of The STLA Platform

  • Maximum range of 500 miles
  • 0-62 MPH in as low as 2.0 seconds
  • 20 miles per minute fast charging capability

2024 Dodge Charger EV: Powertrain And Performance

Powertrain specs of the Dodge Charger EV

The base and mid-level grades of the 2024 Dodge Charger EV will be powered by a 400-volt electric powertrain. This propulsion setup outputs around 455 hp in the entry-level version dubbed 340 and a little less than 600 horses in the midrange 440 grade. The range-topping Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee will be invigorated by a more potent 800-volt powertrain. We expect this top-spec model to produce around 805 ponies in its standard state of tune.

Additionally, the power output of all three of these grades can be boosted via Dodge Direct Connection which works by plugging in a physical “crystal” key into the dash. The base models can be upsurged to 495 or 535 hp whereas the midrange model can be bumped to 630 or 670 hp. We expect Dodge to offer 850 and 900-hp upgrade packages for the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee. But considering Dodge’s history, we wouldn’t be taken aback if they make a Banshee with 1,000+ hp.

Dodge has named the first electrified Charger’s transmission “eRupt”. It will be a multi-speed unit capable of providing an electro-mechanical shifting experience. With distinctive shift points, Dodge promises that this automatic transmission will deliver aggressive, Mopar-style shifts.

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept looks as buff as the meanest gas-guzzling Charger models it will be supplanting. Its burly powertrains seem capable enough to provide an exhilarating driving experience. Dodge might even be able to convert ardent Mopar fans into buying one of these when they arrive in the near future.

We expect the 2024 Dodge Charger EV to launch in mid-2024. Also, even though only a 2-Door concept was showcased until now, 4-Door models could potentially be included in the lineup. The 2024 Dodge Charger EV will be more expensive than the current-gen fuel-sipping 2023 Dodge Charger. We anticipate prices to start at around $50,000 for the base model.
