Not only is this Nissan GT-R a piece of Hollywood history, but it also has an automotive legacy in racing. It finished ninth in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, in 2015, and remains Nissan’s best result on the track in the past few years.

Gran Turismo, the movie, is a true story of a bedroom gamer turned real-time GT racer. It is about Le Mans 24 Hours driver, Jann Mardenborough, who wins the competition to climb the “stairway to heaven” with the Nissan's Academy program. Portrayed by Archie Madekwe in the movie, Mardenborough is the man behind the wheel during the stunts in the movie as well.

While the sports car now wears a white livery, in between it wore black, to honor a spectator who passed away in an earlier VLN round accident involving Mardenborough and another GT-R GT3.

Currently, this Nissan GT-R R35 Nismo GT3 belongs to the creator of GT Academy, Darren Cox, played by Orlando Bloom in the movie. This is one race car with multiple claims to fame and now, it could be yours.

Expect To Cough Up Six Figures For This Gran Turismo Car

As a game, Gran Turismo is now in its seventh entry. It is so popular that players tend to go into a frenzy, collecting virtual cars. Having the real deal could mean the world to a fan, which is why Silverstone Auctions will put this 2014 Nissan R35 GTR-8A01 up for bid at the Silverstone Festival on August 25, in the UK.

They expect it to go for $290,000 and $355,000 especially since the auction will take place just weeks after the movie’s release.

Recently, this very auction house sold a TVR Cerbera Speed 12 featured in the Gran Turismo game, for more than $772,000. Given that this is a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3, and a bona fide, iconic movie car along with a storied racer, the auction house might be erring on this side of modesty.

Most cars in big-budget movies don’t go up for sale immediately after the movie release, so this Nissan GT-R might be special in more ways than one.
