Back in 1976, Honda introduced a two-door hatchback, called the Accord. Honda wanted to conquer the market with a premium, fuel-efficient model that was still seen as an affordable option for middle-class families, and the strategy worked. When the Honda Accord first came to the United States, customers fell in love with the vehicle right away, and they quickly turned it into one of the best-selling cars. But the Honda Accord was able to foster loyalty and trust, so its triumph was not fleeting. The Accord remained the best-selling Japanese car in the U.S. market for decades. Naturally, it helped that Honda manufactured the sedan in Marysville, OH since 1982.
